For over ten years, King Lifting has been responsible for installing a pedestrian bridge, which provides vital access for Reading Festival attendees from the parking and camping areas to the heart of the festival.
Held from Thursday 22 August – Sunday 25 August this year’s festival saw 90,000+ enjoy a lineup that included Blink 182, Fred Again, Liam Gallagher, Lana del Ray and many more.
This year’s bridge installation featured our capacity class leading Liebherr LTM1300-6.2 300t crane, utilising 96.0 tons of counterweight and a telescopic main boom length of 43.9m. The bridge, weighing in at 21.0 tons, was installed at a radius of 28.0m.
Our crane was positioned directly onto four piled foundations, standing approximately 0.5m above ground level. These screw piles provide a stable base despite the River Thames flooding 2-3 times a year, ensuring a secure and reliable installation year after year.
